Hi there, blog readers! Welcome to our second post on account of me being a procrastinator. Today has been an awesome day. It snowed so much here in Texas, we just didn’t know how to handle it. My husband got off of work and we’ve been taking it easy all day long. The roads are so icy we can’t even leave our house to get some much needed groceries, therefore, we had oatmeal for dinner. Also, i posted a blog.
When people come over to my house to dine, laugh, dance, or simply to deliver my UPS package- the thing I get most comments on is my wooden family photos. They are unusual, I suppose. After the initial comment, the next question is typically, “How do you make them?” Well my friends, I have constructed a “how to” video for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy, and don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
With love,

So this is incredible! Im copying you this week! Where do you get your great blocks o wood!
Oh and can I say you are the most adorable thing EVER. Yep you are!
haha- thanks sweet rachel!! I actually got the wood from lowes and my hunk of a husband cut it into that size for me. You can also get wood from hobby lobby that is wall-hang-ready.
This is awesome! Am wondering if u could do this on painted would, say black distressed? Ur video is great! Very creative!
YOU are simply AMAZING!!!!!!
oh thanks, kim!
i don’t think it would work on painted black wood. if the paint was a lighter color, it should work. the white part on the picture is actually transparent when transfering the image. the black ink is the only part that shows up, so you would need to choose a color of paint that black ink would show up on. hope that answers your question!
thank you momma!
love you.
This is awesome! Your video is so cute!
OH.MY.Gosh… this is BRILLIANT!!!!! when we do our photo shoot with the lovely MORGAN GAUNTT we will DEFINITELY have these photos going in our hallway! that is the PERFECT idea for the space that is completely lacking right now.
freaking brilliant. seriously. i LOVE it.
ok. now post again. i need more.
Hi Crystal! I read somewhere that you can use white glue (Elmer’s) in place of the gel medium. Do you think that would work? The glue is $2 vs. $20 for the medium. Thanks & I love the video!
Hi Mark Mroz! I’ve never tried using glue, but it’s definitely worth a shot! If that doesn’t work, you can usually get 40% off coupons to hobby lobby or michael’s on their websites- that’s what i do
. Let me knwo about the glue if you end up trying it! & thank you-
Is the picture copies on regular paper or photo paper?
i just used regular copy paper.
Did you sand the piece of wood first?
i didn’t, but depending on how rough the wood is, it might be a good idea to sand it a little
.
I tried it but come across a couple of problems that you might help me with.
When I started to take the paper off the picture also came off, and it had brush strokes all through it. I used ordinary paper and an inkjet printer.
Steve
switching to a laser printer should do the trick!
you are so responsive – I love it. We did a Daddy gift with this over the weekend. Used a color photo and it turned out amazing. I am doing black and white photos for family gifts this Christmas… sorry in advance Southwest baggage guys. I had home depot cut 10×12 blocks of wood so there is a wood border.
There is nothing worse than a Texas Ice Storm… I spent a winter there and will never do it again. Colorado snow and then melt the next day storms are the way to go.
